Road to Recertification
Effective 6/15/2009 – 2 big recertification policy changes from the HR Certification Institute:
1) Change to their webinar/webcast policy to allow archived webinar/webcasts to count for credit as long as it is within two years of the live presentation date and the organization can verify attendance/participation and provide documentation to attendees.
2) Self-study courses will be considered for credit if the following main criteria are met at the time that the program is submitted for pre-approval:
-
The organization has the ability to assess the individual throughout the course and track participation/time.
-
There is a post-assessment at the end of the course (required).
-
The course has either been assessed by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) or another applicable organization to determine the number of hours to be awarded, OR there is an equivalent university classroom course in which case hours would be determined by actual classroom contact time.
HRCI has recently added a new tool to its website (www.hrci.org) to serve as a reference guide, providing simple guidelines for recertification.
